New Reps

IMBA Canada would like to welcome two new Canadian field reps to our crew of dedicated advocates.

Jean-François Ravenelle - Eastern Manitoba, Western Ontario

Jean-François Ravenelle, based in Winnipeg, will be focused on Eastern Manitoba and crossing over into Western Ontario. JF is the manager of Gord's Bike Shop and is very actively involved with Gord's Mountain Bike Club.

Peter Plaizier will be our newest Alberta addition, based out of Edmonton. Peter joins Kip Keylock, our long-standing Calgary-based rep, to increase mountain biking opportunities in Canada's Rocky Mountain playground.

IMBA Rep Helps Build New Trails In Saskatchewan

Trail Care Crews Visit Squamish, BC

The Squamish Off Road Cycling Association (SORCA) has been working tirelessly to save the crown jewel of their trail system, the Powerhouse Plunge Trail, from being damaged by adjacent logging. On June 10 - 12, the Subaru-IMBA Trail Care Crew worked with SORCA to help save their beloved trail from erosion and widening. See a slideshow of their visit: squamish_bc


Mississauga Club Receives Kona Freeride Grant

Ontario Trail Improvement Grants Awarded

Thanks to a partnership between the Ontario Cycling Association (OCA) and IMBA Canada, three Ontario mountain bike clubs have received $500 grants to improve local trails. Find out who got the loot here: ontario_grants


McKay Insurance Temporarily Unavailable To New Canadian Clubs

IMBA's mountain biking club insurance policy, brokered through McKay Insurance of Iowa, is temporarily suspended to new business in Canada. Canadian clubs who have already purchased a policy will continue to be covered through August 31 as scheduled. Please note that only new business is suspended and all existing policies expire on August 31, 2005.

McKay Insurance is working to renew IMBA's mountain biking club insurance policy and we hope to have a new policy in place and available for purchase by clubs in the U.S. and Canada by September 1. More info will be available in August.


Ottawa Mountain Bike Association Hits A Groove

Since its formation, OMBA has signed on more than 80 members, delivered trail proposals to local authorities, started regular trailwork days, and become a much-needed voice for mountain bike advocacy in the Nation's Capital. Not bad for a club that's only 3 months old!
