Tour de l’Abitibi - Prologue Val-d’Or QC July 18th

Éric Boily shows his true colors at the 37th Tour de l’Abitibi

Éric Boily, Canadian criterium champion and road champion sent a clear message by completely dominating the prologue of the 37th edition of the Tour de l’Abitibi on the streets of Val-d’Or. Member of the national team, Boily crossedthe finish line completely alone. He dominated the 15,4 km race in 22, 23 minutes. However, this does not really count in the total race classing, This event is used to present the racers to the public.

At the finish line, the Chicoutimi born racer beat team Columbia Julian Arrerondo and team Quebec’s Joel Dion-Poitras. Boily and team USA’s Daniel Holloway broke away on the second last lap. This breakaway promises a hot competition between USA and Canada.

The first official stage for World cup juniors will be held tomorrow when the 159 racers from seven countries will hold a team time trial from Val-Senneville to Val-d’Or. The distance is 17,4 km. The second stage is at night, a 55 km criterium in Val-d’Or.
