Walker Takes Dirt Crit
Adam Walker (Gary Fisher/Rip n Hammer) from Victoria won the men‚s Pro-Elite Dirt Crit at the Whistler Classic a few minutes ago, reports a very happy Lorraine Hebert (Adam is her Œsignificant other‚...). Adam broke away a couple of times in the 30 minute plus 3 lap race, but was chased down each time until he finally stayed clear for the final 3 laps. In second place it was Lucas Curran (Giant/RST/ValueNet), and third went to Scott Ross (Tantalus/Kona). The crowd was dynamite, with all the bar restaurant patios full of spectators - as Lorraine said: „everyone‚s got a smile on their face‰.
Action gets underway again tomorrow with the cross-country, and Lorriane will be reporting in during the racing.
Note: Melanie McQuaid of Rocky Mountain called in after her race to say that tomorrow‚s course was „way better than the Canada Cup course. There is 20-25 minutes of climbing (per lap).‰ She also confirmed that she is finally starting to feel better after a slow start to the season. „I finally feel that I am starting to get some form.‰
