Velodrome 40 minutes North of Toronto? - No Way!
Wishful thinking? Maybe....but the Hummingbird's International Cycling Club will be hosting Track League at Sunset Speedway for the first time, this Saturday - June 19 from 11am to 1pm. At no other time in the last 20 years, has track racing been closer to Toronto.
For those unable to make the 5 hour drive to Detroit, or 2 hours to Delhi, this location is perfect for trying out track cycling.
Sunset Speedway is a 1/3 mile paved racing oval located on Highway 11 (Yonge Street), near the Town of Innisfil. The long straightaways and gently banked (10 degree) turns are perfect for motorpacing and mass start events.
There will be plenty of time for practice and racing. All fixed-gear and track cyclists are welcome to attend, but they must purchase a Hummingbird's Track League membership (one day or season pass). Track fee is $10 for the day. OCA insurance rules apply, so don't forget to bring your UCI licence, Citizen's Permit, or OCA affiliated Club Membership Cards to the track.
A track coach will be at the track for information and advice.
Beginners are more than welcome.
For more information on Track League, consult the Track Schedule on the OCA racing schedule. For information on Sunset Speedway, including directions, go to sunsetspeedway.ca
