Former Alberta Coach Wins Award
Martin Barras, former coach in Alberta has been named Cycling Australia Coach of the Year. Barras is Australian and AIS Head Track Coach appointed to the position in July of 2001, after returning to Australia from Great Britain, where he spent 1 year working with the British national team. Prior to moving to Great Britain Barras spent five years as head coach of the Western Australian Institute of Sport Cycling Program, which provided him with extensive knowledge and understanding of Australian cycling and its elite programs.
Australia won nine medals at the 2002 track world championships and Barras was given much of the credit.
Seiniewicz to continue with Ofoto-Lombardi for 2003
Greg Seiniewicz (of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia) will remain with Ofoto-Lombardi as they enter their 2nd year as a UCI Division III professional team.
