News from the Atlantic Cycling Centre Dieppe, New Brunswick

DIEPPE-May 25th 2002- The UNBSJ varsity challenge took place on Saturday May 25th. The top riders from NB were present to represent their high schools. The following schools were represented: Sussex regional high school, Miramichi Valley High school, MacNaughton high school, Polyvalente Mathieu-Martin, Cité des jeunes, Hartland High school, Kennebecasis High school and Amherst regional High (Nova Scotia).

In the Junior varsity category, Michel Léger from Mathieu-Martin was first, Kyle McGivery from Sussex regional high came in second and Jonathan Sweezy from Macnaughton high school was 3rd. In the senior varsity category, Justin St-Onge from Amherst NS finished in the top spot, followed by Dominic Caron from Mathieu-Martin and Christian Meir from Sussex regional high. Canadian road champion Julie Bélanger from la Cité des Jeunes finished in top spot for the women senior varsity. The school with the most points was Mathieu-Martin and they won the UNBSJ High school Cup.

The Family Fun challenge Mountain bike race presented by the National Cycling Development Centre- Atlantic Canada was held on May 25th 2002. In the senior category, Brad Fullford and Mathieu Bélanger came in second. The junior category was comprised of all the graduates of the Mountain Bike 201 and included Mikayla Losier, Mathieu Gallant, Jean-Richard Cormier, Glen Haines, Jeremy Hébert, Denis Hébert, Justin Leblanc, Sébastien Leblanc and Michel MacDonald.


DIEPPE- le 25 mai- Le Centre national de développement cycliste-Canada atlantique a présenté le défi scolaire UNBSJ, qui s’est déroulé le samedi 25 mai 2002. Les meilleurs coureurs de la province étaient présents afin de représenter leurs écoles secondaires. Il y avait des coureurs des écoles suivantes : sussex regional, Miramichi Valley, polyvalente Mathieu-Martin, la cité des jeunes, Hartland, Kennebecasis et Amherst en Nouvelle-Écosse.

Les 3 premières positions dans la catégorie Junior masculin (9 et 10ième année) sont Michel Léger de la polyvalente Mathieu-Martin, Kyle McGivery de Sussex et Jonathan Sweezy de l’école Macnaughton. Du coté des seniors masculin, Justin St-Onge d’Amherst en Nouvelle-Écosse s’est mérité la première place, Dominic Caron de Mathieu-Martin la deuxième et Christian Meir de Sussex s’est classé troisième. Du coté féminin sénior, la championne sur route canadienne Julie Bélanger de la Cité des Jeunes s’est classée première. L’école qui a accumulé le plus de points est Mathieu-Martin. Ils se méritent la coupe UNBSJ.


Le Centre national de développement cycliste-Canada atlantique a présenté le défi familial, le samedi 25 mai 2002. Voici les résultats de l’événement. Dans la catégorie sénior, Brad Fullford était premier et Mathieu Bélanger était deuxième. La catégorie junior était composée des jeunes qui ont terminé le cours de vélo de montagne 201.
