Museeuw Takes Paris-Roubaix
Johan Museeuw (Domo-Farm Frites) has won his third title at Paris-Roubaix - the 100th edition of this toughest of classics, after a masterful performance that saw him launch a solo attack with 40 kilometres remaining. George Hincapie and his US Postal teammate Tom Boonen chased in vain, as Museeuw's lead quickly went from 11 seconds to 50 seconds, to 2 minutes with 15 kilometres to go. Hincapie then slipped in the last section of pavé, and Boonen was allowed to continue alone, with Steffen Wesemann (Telekom) ahead of Hincapie and Thierry Gouvenou (Big Mat). Museeuw continued to pad his lead in the remaining kilometres, coming in nearly 3 minutes in front of Wesemann, who outsprints Boonen. Tristan Hoffmann (CSC-Tiscali) takes fourth ahead of Lars Michaelsen (Coast) and Hincapie. Museeuw should take over the World Cup lead from Mario Cipollini (Acqua & Sapone), who did not start at Paris-Roubaix.
