François Parisien termine dans le peloton

27 mars 2002 (Sportcom) - Le cycliste François Parisien a bien paru, mercredi, terminant dans le peloton du Grand prix cycliste de la Foire internationale de Rennes, en France. L'épreuve, une course sur route de 170 km, a été remportée par le Néo-zélandais Hayden Roulston.

" J'ai terminé parmi les 40 premiers ", a mentionné Parisien. " C'est difficile de savoir précisément notre position d'arrivée, car celle-ci était si étroite que nous nous embarquions presque les uns sur les autres. Il y a au moins 15 coureurs qui ont chuté dans les dernières centaines de mètres ", a souligné le porte-couleur de l'équipe de Pontivy.

" Je suis content de ma performance, étant donné la qualité des coureurs présents. La course s'est déroulée très rapidement, il n'y avait pas de relâchement possible. J'ai pu me maintenir parmi les 30 premiers tout au long de la course, mais le peloton ne s'est jamais défait ", a-t-il ajouté.

Il s'agissait d'une course de Championnat de France en catégorie Élite-2, regroupant plusieurs des meilleurs espoirs du cyclisme masculin. " C'est un peu le bassin de recrutement des grandes équipes professionnels ", a conclu le médaillé d'or du contre-la-montre individuel des derniers Jeux du Canada, qui poursuit sa préparation en Europe.


Canadian Builds Velodromes

Peter Junek dropped us a line from Korea, where he is working with the sports federation to build velodromes for both the national cycling program and professional keirin racing.

"The 250 x 7.5 and 333 x 12 meters tracks (afzelia surface) I am building are for National Training Center in Korea. Koreans are developing a professional track racing system similar to the Japanese keirin system. This facility will be mostly a keirin school and also for national cycling team. The facility includes dormitories, offices, auditorium, gym, cafeteria and 3 km road course."

Ride to Survive

Hi folks,

Marc from Sportable with an update of Bommer's ride around the world. The official campaign is Ride To Survive and our web site is www.ridetosurvive.org

Boomer left Tokyo last week after spending several days relaxing from his trip accross Finalnd on XC skis. He has embarked on his 30,000 km trip around the world to raise funds for Cancer research and Cancer survivors.

A day to day update of his trip can be found on the website. Our greatest goal is to get survivors to ride with him and create an awareness with the hopes of one day building a support network for Cancer survivors. It is my hope you see this as news worthy and keep the updates on your site.
