Two first time winners have been chosen by our readers as the Canadian Cyclists of 2025, after both had a breakthrough year last season. Magdeleine Vallières Mill has been selected as the Female Cyclist of the Year and for Best Individual Female Performance, while Jackson Goldstone won the same awards for Male rider. These were the 29th year for the Canadian Cyclist Awards.
Magdeleine Vallières Mill of Sherbrooke, Quebec, became the first Canadian cyclist to win the Road World Championship title at the Elite level - female or male - a stunning and unprecedented accomplishment. She also had top-10 stage finishes in both the Tour and the Vuelta. Vallières Mill took 62% of first place votes, ahead of Isabella Holmgren, who was selected by 22% of voters for her double Under-23 world titles in the XCC and XCO. Vallières Mill's world championship win, in a solo breakaway, was selected by 61% of voters as the top Individual Performance with a tie for second place between Holmgren's U23 XCO win or BMX World Cup Molly Simpson, each of whom received 10% of the votes.

We spoke with Magdeleine from Australia, where she has just completed the Tour Down Under with her team EF Education-Oatly. "It was for sure a dream season. Finishing with winning the Worlds, I couldn't really ask for more. I'm excited to wear the jersey this year and race with my teammates. I [will] try to be more in the final going for wins in more races, and also just getting more opportunities. Of course, I am really excited and looking forward to racing Worlds at home [Montreal] at the end of 2026."
The men's voting was between two outstanding riders Whistler, BC's, Goldstone, who won the Downhill world title and World Cup overall titles (including five individual World Cup wins), and previous Derek Gee, who finished fourth overall in the Giro d'Italia. Goldstone's world title and World Cup title is the first time a Canadian has won both Elite titles in the same season, and he took 65% of first place votes. His world championship title was chosen as the top performance of the year, chosen by 62% of voters. Goldstone has previously been recognized with our Roger Sumner (Best Newcomer) Award, in 2021.
