Derek Gee sent us a quick report on his epic ride on Friday in Stage 19 of the Giro, when he finished second in the Queen stage of the Giro [see Derek Gee Finishes Second on the Queen Stage of the Giro]. For his ride, he was chosen the Most Combative rider and will wear a special red number when he races today.

Derek Gee:

"It's been a crazy mix of emotions ... to be up there and fighting on the Queen stage of the Giro was beyond my wildest dreams, but at the same time another second place hurts. I think I'm also second in the KoM and the Sprint competitions [he is] and 22nd in GC, so I seem to really like the number 2!

"But at the end of the day, I'm really happy with it ... but really, really looking forward to being done in Rome. I think it's going to be a pretty special feeling crossing the line there.

"Only one more day to suffer through."
