Having the fastest and the most reliable equipment is fundamental to success in cycling. The Equipment Lead will be responsible for ensuring all national team programs have appropriate access to equipment; that the equipment they are using is the best that Cycling Canada can provide within its resources; that the mechanical support provided to the programs is of the highest possible quality and tailored to each program's needs; and that equipment services are delivered as efficiently and collaboratively as possible.

The successful candidate will manage equipment procurement, inventory and mechanic staffing for all national team programs; will play a key role in Cycling Canada's research and innovations initiatives; and will work as a mechanic at identified projects.

This full-time position is based at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton, Ontario.

Reporting Structure
The Equipment Lead reports directly to the High Performance Director and collaborates with the National Team Coaches, PSRI Staff and the Cycling Canada operations staff.

Specific Responsibilities
The Equipment Lead will support the operational objectives of Cycling Canada's strategic plan as follows:

1. In collaboration with the High Performance Director, the Head Coach, the Director of High Performance Operations and PSRI staff, develop annual and quadrennial equipment plans in alignment with program YTPs and Cycling Canada's strategic plan.
2. In collaboration with the High Performance Director, develop an annual equipment and mechanical support budget.
3. Act as mechanic on identified National Team projects.
4. Identify, procure and distribute equipment to all national team programs according to the annual plans.
5. Monitor equipment budgets and inventories.
6. Identify and assign mechanics to support National Team programs.
7. Identify and facilitate education, development, and mentorship opportunities for National Team mechanics.
8. Monitor and review the quality of mechanical support provided to National Team programs.
9. In collaboration with the High Performance Director, the Head Coach, the Director of High Performance Operations and PSRI staff, develop annual and quadrennial equipment innovations strategies.
10. Act as Cycling Canada representative with equipment sponsors and suppliers.
11. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders in cycling in Canada.

Deliverables
1. Provide the appropriate level and quality of equipment and mechanic support coverage to all national team programs.
2. Track budgets and inventory accurately.
3. Contribute to Cycling Canada's innovations initiatives.

Qualifications
• A minimum of 5 years' experience working as a cycling competition mechanic at the national team or professional team level. Essential skills include:
- Gluing tubular tires
- The ability to drive a manual transmission
• An understanding of the UCI technical regulationsv• Project management experience
• Strong interpersonal skills; experience working in and managing a collaborative team
• Strong knowledge of engineering, machining, and composite materials
• A strong understanding of the cycling industry
• Strong written skills
• A valid driver's licence (Note: Cycling Canada's vehicle insurance policies require drivers to be at least 25 years old)
• The ability to work in both official languages is an asset

Other qualifications and experience that are considered assets include:
- Bike fitting (specifically, experience with the Retül system)
- Maintaining power meters (SRM, Infocrank)
- Bicycle suspension maintenance and tuning
- Disc brake maintenance
- Wind tunnel testing
- AutoCAD and 3D printing

Travel
The Equipment Manager will be required to travel domestically and internationally to support Cycling Canada programming.
