Napa Cross-country Photos
It took us a while to go through all the photos from Napa (over 300) and pick out the ones we wanted to use. (The delay was exacerbated by a software meltdown in the camera that forced a switch to completely manual metering and focussing...)
Anyway, here are the photos...

Trinidad Report

Yesterday's rest day was definitely a pleasure, and treat for all of us. We made the 45 minute mountainous drive from Port of Spain over to the beach of Maracas. It is a beautiful drive, over the mountain range, overlooking the ocean. Very spectacular. The roads are totally crazy, very narrow, very curvy, and very steep!!
We all piled into a MAXI taxi, these are NISSAN vans, that the locals call MAXI taxis. They are the trini form of public transport. The drivers are local guys, with a "taxi" license, loud music pumpin, and, of course, totally pimped up mini vans (tinted windows, lowered down vans, with mag wheels!! ) So we made it to the beach, spent a few hours splashing around, gathering up as much of the sun as we could!!
Today was another rest day, spent mostly on the bikes. 2 hour road ride this morning, followed by an tour of downtown with all of the international cyclists. We were all on bikes, handing out flyers all over downtown. Much like a parade! Short stop at the mayor's office, meeting the mayor and other councilmen, quick drink of gingerale with his excellency. Then off to hand out more flyers downtown. Over 2 hours handing out flyers, meeting the locals! It was a total blast, and hopefully the guys got a bit of the local atmosphere out of the experience.
Tomorrow is a 1 hour criterium around the Queens Park savannah. A local civic park, with a 4 kilometer road around it. Very flat, should be a rocket fast race.
Hope everyone is okay back in Canada.. We are doing very well here!!
Take care,
Kurt

One year from now, on 14th April 2002, exactly 102 years after the creation of the UCI, the World Cycling Centre will be officially opened in Aigle (Switzerland).
This Centre will offer training programmes in all Olympic cycling discplines. These programmes will be run for selected members of the cycling family (riders, coaches and officials)with a particular focus on young people. Its aim is to meet the requirements in terms of training, development and solidarity, which are the main challenges for cycling in the 21st century.
