Hello from Trinidad!
We thought you might enjoy this note from Jim Fisher who is one of the riders with Kurt Innes on the Trinidad project
Well, we are down in Trinidad, racing our bikes for the first time this season. It's pretty hot, fun, and good training. The racing is on a totally round track, about 460m, so not what we are used to! It has one 'straight away' that's about 40m long, and sort of straight. It was placed around an existing cricket pitch, a game I'm sure all of you have limited knowledge of in the first place!
Its early season for us Canadians, so we aren't having the stellar performances yet, however, after a few days go by, perhaps one or two at the beach, we'll be back on form! We are having a good time, racing hard, and staying safe. Hope all is well in snowy Canada, we really do miss home! - Jim Fisher.

Walt Bayless (Team U of T Mountain Biking), received the George M. Biggs Award last Friday (April 6th) at the University of Toronto's annual formal varsity team athletic banquet. It is the most prestigious academic/athletic award given by the university..and the first time in Canadian history such an award was given to a mountain biker.
Congratulations Walt!

New Executive Director! The ABA welcomes Shauna Richard as our new Executive Director. Shauna comes to us from the St. Albert Soccer Association where she has worked as Executive Director for the past 3 years. Besides the skills, experience and enthusiasm she brings to her new position, Shauna is also an avid cyclist. She was a member of Juventus for several years and has raced in both road and mountain bike disciplines.
Effective immediately, the Edmonton office will be back to normal operating hours (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am 'til 4:30 pm).
Officiating News: We are currently scheduling officials to road, track, and mountain bike events for the season. Members who officiated last season, and even previous years, are asked to please contact Chief Commissaire Bill Thompson: wthompson@compusmart.ab.ca
With the racing season fast approaching, it has become apparent we are suffering from a severe shortage of Road and Track Officials. Through retirements, moves and other circumstances, we've lost approximately 5 officials who worked many events last season. We will need to replace these officials in order to offer the full slate of categories and races we have scheduled. Officiating is the best way to watch a bike race - come be a part of the action! Members can become officials by enrolling in a one-day training course:
