We are shocked to report that German mountain bike journalist Erhard Goller has suffered a serious stroke. Erhard has been a friend and colleague for many years on the mountain bike circuit, and is the main voice of mountain biking in the German and Swiss press. He has covered the Olympics, World Cup and world championships, as well as German and Swiss Cup series, and been the press officer for the Albstadt World Cup. At every finish line he is there, with a big smile and his trademark shoulder length hair.
Now, Erhard has lost his ability to read, write and speak after a stroke - hopefully, only temporarily. What he currently needs most is intensive, in-patient speech therapy at a high level. These costs may not be fully paid by health insurance. That is why it is important to donate to the GoFundMe page that has been set up. Already, in less than 24 hours, friends and members of the mountain bike community have donated over two-thirds of the goal. However, even if the donation goal is reached, life will not be the same for Erhard afterwards; not only will we miss him, but he will also lose his livelihood from his journalistic work for a long time.
Erhard has not lost his courage to live, or even his zest for life. He is actively fighting to learn to read, write and speak again. He fully understands what is said to him and reacts to it in a targeted manner, he "only" cannot speak. If you can, please support him on his long, hard and certainly still arduous journey back.
