Garneau has issued a helmet recall in conjunction with Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. This recall involves Louis Garneau Sports Course LG1261 bicycle helmet with molded ventilation channels, model number 1405261.
The words "Garneau", "LG" and "Course" are on both sides of the helmet. They were sold in matte black and matte fluo yellow. The manufacturer's date and serial number are printed on a sticker inside the helmet. Only lot and serial numbers listed below are included in the recall.
The plastic shell on the helmet can weaken over time causing the product to fail head impact testing. In the event of an accident, the helmet could fail to prevent head injuries, posing a hazard to consumers.
As of February 26, 2018, the company has received no report of incident or injury in Canada or in the United States.
Approximately 548 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and approximately 655 were sold in the United States. The affected products were sold from December 2015 to January 2018.
Consumers should stop using the recalled helmet immediately and contact Louis Garneau Sports Inc. to return it and get a replacement helmet.
Consumers may contact Louis Garneau Sports Inc. by telephone toll-free at 1-800-463-8356 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, at services@louisgarneau.com; or through the website.
Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
