The Canadian Cyclo-cross Championships return to Sherbrooke, Quebec, at the end of the month. Cycling Canada, in collaboration with the Sherbrooke Cycling Club and the Siboire micro-brewery, will hold the Championships at Jacques Cartier Park in Sherbrooke on October 27-29. After hosting the Canadian Championships for the first time last year and the Quebec Championships in 2015, the organizing committee aims to make Sherbrooke a reference point for the holding of cyclo-cross competitions in Canada.
The objective of the organizing committee is to attract 400 athletes per race day. Several world-class elite athletes have already confirmed their presence, including Olympians Goeff Kabush, Raphaël Gagné and Léandre Bouchard. For the women, Maghalie Rochette (defending champion last year and fifth at the world championships), Lyne Bessette and Christel Ferrier-Bruneau have confirmed their attendance.
The Championships will begin Friday evening (October 27th) with a Corporate Relay. On Saturday the national championship competitions will take place for all categories, and on Sunday the final round of the Quebec Cup will conclude the weekend.
