B.C. Cyclists Hit by Cars
Trevor Shpeley and Geoff Rice have passed on info about two separate incidents:
Noted cyclist and long time Cycling BC Road committee member Roger Sumner was hit by a car this morning, and is in Vancouver General Hospital, being tended to by Vancouver's finest Doctors and Nurses. At the moment he is in ICU, but am sure he would be very happy to see his cycling family stop by and wish him well over the next few days.
In an unrelated incident TrekVolkswagen's (Road Team) team captain Min VanVelzen is also recuperating from a collision with a truck this past weekend in Vancouver. Min was on his first test-ride with a new custom scandium bike given to him by Pat Dion. The driver of the truck after coming to a stop at an intersection decided to blast through the red light because it was taking "so long" to turn green. Min was thrown into the air landing in the cab of the truck then bounced back out and was dragged behind the vehicle. He is pretty banged up and may have fractured his hand.
We wish them both well and fast recoveries.
