Sydor Joins Trek
We couldn't hold off on announcing this one any longer - Alison Sydor will be leaving her long-time Volvo-Cannondale squad to join a new Trek powerhouse team, which also recently signed fellow Canadian Roland Green.
We have known that this has been coming for a few days now, but held off saying anything at Alison's request until papers were signed. However, the cat is now out of the bag. We will provide details on this signing, probably the biggest of the season, as they become available.
Elita Update
We reported earlier in the week that Elita was splitting up, with some riders going to a Mercury run team. It is now official - Annie Gariepy, Sarah Ulmer and Karen Dunne will join the Autotrader.com squad, to be run by John Wordin Sports (which runs the Mercury team). Elita team manager David Cathcart also joins the John Wordin Sports organization. We have been led to understand that Elita will remain as a team (albeit smaller), but are still awaiting confirmation concerning who will be on the team.
Other Team Signings
Dual competitor Brian Lopes has left a rapidly shrinking Volvo-Cannondale squad to join GT. Also on GT for 2001 will be Alison Dunlap (XC, returning), Fabien Barel (DH/Dual, returning) and Kelli Emmett (XC, newcomer), Steve Peat (DH/Dual, returning), Katja Repo (DH/Dual, returning) and Roel Paulissen (XC, returning).
