This coming Sunday, February 19th, Youth, Elite, and Masters racers will hit the boards at the Forest City Velodrome for an afternoon of racing featuring mass start races for all categories including Madison racing. Racing starts at 3pm. The FCV has brought in Digital Concept Entertainment, an events company looking bring Six Day racing to Ontario, to create an added dimension to the event.
Race Director Mark Buckaway said, "Digital Concept Entertainment will be using the FCV as a test event, and if all goes as planned, we will be hosting racing with a lightshow and have a DJ spinning just like Six Day racing in Europe. It will be a party at the small track in London, Ontario."
Craig Saari, president of the Forest City Velodrome Association, said, "Training on the small track and tight corners provides excellent bike handling and pack racing skills. This month's race schedule is another opportunity for the track cycling community to hone these skills in a fun and competitive environment."
Racing continues the following Sunday. On February 26th, in preparation for track provincials, the FCV is holding our Time Trial Track record event. Racers will go up against the clock looking to grab a new PB or track record. Track records have been posted on the website.
Race registration online is $30 in advance. The complete race schedule and registration information is available at racing.forestcityvelodrome.ca.
The Forest City Velodrome is a non-profit, volunteer run, track cycling organization that runs the shortest permanent indoor cycling track in the world at 138m. All proceeds from racing go to support the operation of the track.
