Canada's Ryan Anderson (Optum p/b KBS) continued the team's strong European spring campaign with a win in the 163.6 kilometre second and final stage of the Troféu Alpendre Internacional do Guadiana in Portugal. His Canadian team mate, Guillaume Boivin, finished third on the stage. With his win, Anderson finishes third overall.
Anderson told local media, "The goal was to win the stage and the overall jersey and that's why we worked hard. We were unable to win the yellow jersey, but got first and third in stage, thanks to the excellent work of Guillaume Boivin, who led me out and still managed third."
Spain's Jordi Simon (Team Ecuador) took the overall title, 11 seconds ahead of Portugese rider Hernani Broco (LA Aluminium-Antarte), with Anderson at 13 seconds. Anderson also won the Points Jersey.
