Cycling BC's iRide Schools and Community Program rolled into its third week of indoor field trip programming with a visit to Catalyst Kinetics and TaG Cycling for grade 5, 6, and 7 students of Hill Crest Middle and Canyon Heights Elementary respectively. Their trips on January 30th and February 2nd marked the second visit for each school, now with a new class of eager and excited students.
Canadian legend Andrew Pinfold lead the Catalyst Kinetics workshop, including session of agility and a 2 km time trial on the bicycles. Two-time Olympian Lesley Tomlinson once again ran a fun session on the bikes at TaG, offering up jerseys for those who cycled the best, while Canadian Criterium Champion and iRide Coordinator Ben Chaddock ran the agility segment. At each facility, students alternated between stations for a complete cycling experience.
This program is part of iRide's diverse set of 2015 initiatives, which include FREE outdoor programming throughout the province in a 4 session format, as well as 4 different indoor facility field trips offered once per class for limited time during the winter months. Our 2015 field trips include TaG Cycling (North Vancouver), Catalyst Kinetics (Burnaby / New Westminster), Burnaby Velodrome (Burnaby / Vancouver), and Abbotsford BMX (Abbotsford).
