Two days of very exciting Youth Cup racing wrapped up in London on Sunday afternoon (June 15th). The Forest City Velodrome organising committee used 2 venues over the weekend to produce, large pack sprints for the line, challenging corners, breakaways.... everything you would like to see at a bike race.

Delaware Speedway played host to the Saturday event with 92 racers taking the start in 8 different categories. At registration all were given a Goody Bag full of products from across the region.

The race committee for the weekend introduced the "Hot Seat" during the Time Trial portion of the event and the kids all had their pictures taken when they were called to the "Hot Seat" as being the quickest qualifier (so far) during the TT.

The Road races on the 680m oval produced some very competitive racing with action in all the categories. In the end the consensus was that the families liked being able to see the entire course and could cheer on all the competitors very minute during each race.

Look for bigger things at Delaware Speedway in 2015!!!

Tourism London Youth Grand Prix at the Sovereign Road Crit Course was the venue for Sunday's full day of racing. Over 101 riders were on the start line for the 8 categories of races. The length of the Time Trial was longer than last year and the warm Sunny conditions made the competitors focus on nutrition throughout the day.

The "Hot Seat" was again a big success. The FCV also expanded podiums for the top 5 placing riders in each of the Time Trial, Road race and General Classification. This enabled riders who are generally just off the podium to get pictures taken and put a medal around their neck.

Reynold Cycle (London) offered up over $2,000 in Gift Certificates for the top 5 in each category on General Classification. MEC were also in the giving mood, as they added to the winners in each category purse for the 2 days of racing. In the end with door prizes the total value in the prize pool that was awarded to the racers amounted to $3,950.00. Many thanks to all the sponsors from the London area for chipping in and making the 2 day event a huge success.

To all the volunteers & race committee, a special thank you for all the hard work collecting prizes and making sure all the families and race Teams were looked after for the weekend.
