The 2014 Canadian BMX Championships and the 2014 BMX Canada Cup Finals will be held in Drummondville, Quebec, on October 3rd to 5th.
The change of venue, approved by Cycling Canada's Event Committee, comes after complications and delays with the procurement of a contractor to build the BMX venue at the Centennial Park Pan Am BMX Center, in Toronto. The Nationals event was scheduled to serve as a Test Event for the Toronto 2015 Pan-American Games.
"We will be unable to host in Toronto the scheduled 2014 Canadian BMX Championships and the BMX Canada Cup on October 3rd to 5th. That said, we are pleased to announce that these two events will be moved the Drummondville, Quebec, on the scheduled dates," said Mathieu Boucher, Performance Development Director at Cycling Canada. "TO2015 is aware of the immense value and importance of hosting a Test Event on the new BMX track prior to the Pan American Games in July of 2015. Cycling Canada is committed to working with our Sports Partners to identify an opportunity and to support the hosting of a BMX Test Event in the spring of 2015."
The BMX Canada Cup races scheduled in Drummondville on August 2-3 will remain on the calendar, as scheduled.
