The fifth edition of the the Grand Prix Cycliste Gatineau will take place this Friday and Saturday, in the Gatineau area of the National Capital Region A UCI 1.1 sanctioned event, it is one of the few women's races in North American to receive this international sanction.
The event consists of an 11.5 kilometre individual time trial (Chrono Gatineau) on Friday, and a 122 kilometre road race (Grand Prix Cycliste Hydro Quebec Gatineau) on Saturday. Currently, the Chrono has 51 entries and the GP 89 entries. There are 15 6-rider teams entered for the road race.
Among the names to watch for the Chrono are Denise Ramsden and Joelle Numainville (both Optum Kelly Benefit Strategies), plus Anika Todd and Jasmin Glaesser (both TIBCO to the Top). All four of these riders have been on the podium for the national championships in the time trial. One rider who will be missing from both races is Karol Ann Canuel (Specialized-lululemon), who crashed last weekend at the Philadelphia Classic and is out of action indefinitely with injuries.
