The opening stage was won by Byron Guama (Team Ecuador) in a bunch sprint ahead of César Fonte (Radio Popular) and Edgar Pinto (Antarte)
Ryan Anderson (Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefits Strategies) was the top N. American in 17th at 6 seconds back.
