Volunteers Needed for Springbank Road Race

To run this race safely, we need 400 Volunteers. We have 370 confirmed volunteers to assist us. We are still short of our goal. Please help us by emailing to jayceetee@home.com or leaving a message at (519) 686-0066. The need we have is for marshals. There will be a training session on Saturday May 6 for the marshals. Once you are confirmed, a marshal leader will contact you to tell you what time to be at the training session and what shift you will work on Sunday. Thanking you in advance. Intersports Cycling Team Update

Intersports rider Kyle Hudson has sent in another report on the just finished US Track Trials in Texas. This was written Friday evening (April 28th).

Hi all,

Well yesterday (Thursday, April 27th) we waited out some wild thunderstorms in the morning, and then the evening session was cancelled halfway through the men's flying 200's because of an early settling of dew on the track, causing this particular track to be more slippery than a greased watermelon.

This morning we awoke to the usual sunshine and warm weather. The men's flying 200 was the first event on the revised schedule. The total participants dropped from 51 to 42 over night which was still quite an extensive list of riders to get through.

As this is the US Olympic trials, foreign riders are not allowed to participate in the sprint rounds, which is fine by me, as I would have been matched up against 1st place qualifier and former world champion Marty Nothstein!

The evening saw an action packed women's 20km points race that was dominated by Australian rider Lucy Tyler. Intersports riders Andrea Hannos and Mandy Poitras both rode strong, aggressive races. Andrea slipped away from the pack on lap 44 by herself and managed to stay away for 9 laps, in the process picking up first place points on the 5th sprint lap of the race, finishing the race 6th overall. Mandy chased numerous breakaways throughout the race also managing to pick up 4th place points on the first and final sprints of the race, good for 8th overall. The only other Canadian, Stephanie Hannos placed 10th.

World Cup Coverage

Tomorrow we have coverage from round 3 of the mountain bike cross-country World Cup, in Houffalize, Belgium. Coverage is scheduled to start real early (approximately 5:30-6:00 am), with reports filed from national team assistant Neil Ross, and European Alison Sydor Fan Club president Phil Reinaers.
