Track World Cup
With the cancellation of the Track World Cup in South Africa, and its replacement by Mexico (June 16-18), there is now an opportunity for self-funded athletes to attend a World Cup a lower cost than before. The CCA has opened selection criteria for the Mexico event to include riders attending the Frisco track event (this weekend). Other riders may apply directly to the CCA, by April 30th. Enquiries should be made to racing@canadian-cycling.com.
Tour deVine, B.C.
There will be a cycling festival in Penticton, B.C. from May 5th to 7th. In addition to a criterium, there will be bike tours to vineyards in the region, culminating in a 160 kilometre ride on the Sunday (May 7th) with Steve Bauer. Tandem Demo Day
MBS Tandems is holding a Tandems and Singles demo day at Cheltenham, Ontario on May 7th, from 11am to 3pm. There will be 20 tandems and singles to test ride: Co-Motion, Burley, Cervelo, Bike-E Recumbants, draws, lunch provided. RSVP vandevelde@sympatico.ca or call 905-824-9364.
Montreal Bike Fest
From May 28th to June 4th, the bicycle will be celebrated in Montreal. Known as the Montreal Bike Fest, the event culminates with the 16th annual Tour de l'Ile, the world's largest gathering of cyclists (40,000+). For more information, go to the website - www.velo.qc.ca/.
Multi-Laser GP, Ontario
Multi-Laser and the Town Council are proud to announce the "Multi-Laser Fall Grand Prix" to be held in Gananoque, Ontario on September 23rd & 24th, 2000. As an environmentally conscious company, Multi-Laser is delighted to sponsor this high speed, exciting sporting event, which embodies our "environmentally friendly" spirit.
This race will be a Gold Sanctioned Event, the highest sanction granted by the Ontario Cycling Association. The races will be held over the weekend, and will include races in the Veterans Men's Category, Women's Category, Juniors' Category and the main event of the Elite Men's Category. These races will be a grueling 120 km road race, a 15 km individual time trial and the "crit" which is an exciting circuit race around the down town of Gananoque.
We expect a great turnout of cyclists of all classes, coming from all over Eastern Canada and the Eastern United States, all vying to win the prize money (sponsored by Multi-Laser) of $5,000.00 plus merchandise.
The Multi-Laser Fall Grand Prix should be a fun and entertaining weekend for all, including those who are racing as well as the spectators. We are all looking forward to this event, and make sure you watch for more details on our web site at www.multilaser.com and in various print media!
