On January 9th this year Toronto area cyclist, coach, and family man Ilija Petrovski decided to take advantage of the unseasonably warm weather to go for what he told his family would be a 'pleasure ride'. Things didn't go well. Two dogs ran out at him from a property as he was riding in the Markham countryside and he managed to avoid the first, but the second one brought him down. He hit his head hard, and was taken to hospital by ambulance and then immediately was transferred to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. That evening they performed one brain surgery, and then another, a few days later.
There is now a website dedicated to following Ilija on his long path to (hopeful) recovery. It gives updates on his progression, news on some fundraising initiatives and offers information on ways in which you can help him and his family.
'll thank you in advance for reading and wish to assure you that any donation you may be kind enough to make will help to provide the exact therapeutic care that will aid in his recovery.
