The second race of the Plastiglas Ontario Cup (O-Cup) Mountain Bike Cross Country (MTB XC) Race Series gets underway this Sunday, May 13th, at Woodnewton in Uxbridge, Ontario - just a one hour drive from Toronto. For riders who enjoy a challenge and competing against riders from around the province, this is the race for you! This single track race course was custom designed for riders of all abilities, and specifically designed as a wet weather course that provides plenty of drainage. Riders can expect a challenging, hilly, single track course with steep climbs and descents, and technical up and down sections.
The first race of the O-Cup MTB XC Series that was held two weeks ago at Mansfield Outdoor Centre drew a sizeable race crowd of just under 700 participants and featured several World Cup and Pan Am racers. It was a fun filled day with a race course that offered riders a fast single track with a mix of climbs and bumps that tested riders of all ages and abilities. The second installment of the O-Cup MTB XC Series at Woodnewton is expected to be just as enjoyable and challenging as the first.
The first race of the day starts at 9:00 am and features the Youth and Beginner race categories. These categories are perfect for kids and those with little to no mountain biking/racing experience. You can race in a safe environment where you can experience the thrills of mountain bike racing and test out some of your skills. You can check out the rest of the day's racing once your race has finished, and see the elite riders in action. There is also a free kids race for those 8 year and under at 1:00 pm.
