Lower than expected pre race registration has led the organizers to change the schedule of the road races this Sunday, April 29th. The 2012 Tour of Bronte was in danger of cancellation , but thanks to the support of a committed sponsorship group, the event will be able to proceed this weekend.
“Road racing is all about the pack dynamic” said race director Chris Kiriakopoulos ."Registration for some categories was too low to offer a real race experience for some categories so we have opted to change the schedule to provide a reasonable sized peloton for all ability levels."
In place of the traditional categories, riders will be able to pick from one of three races. The road race schedule will start with a 45 km beginner race at 11:00am. A 63 km intermediate race will follow at 12:30 and an 80km expert/elite race will conclude the days racing at 2:45 pm. Riders will be free to enter the race of their choice, with one reservation . Entry to the expert /elite race will be restricted to riders holding a UCI racing licence.
Race day registration is available. Riders who have pre registered for the race will be assigned a tentative category . They are free to choose a different category on race day.
On line registration is available until 11:59pm tonight.
Register on site for the Dirt dash MTB race on Saturday or the Road races on Sunday.
