Michael Barry Injured Michael Barry (Junior) is one of the most promising young Canadian roader racers of recent years. Last year, at the age of 21, he went to the Atlanta Olympics, and placed 8th at the Road World‚s in the Espoirs (under 23) category. Everyone had great expectations for Michael this season, and he seemed to be building nicely towards the Tour de l‚Avenir and the World‚s, until 3 weeks ago at the Tour of Toledo, when he suffered a serious crash. Initially, it just seemed that he was bruised and scrapped, and he even participated in another 360 kilometre stage race. However, x-rays revealed 2 crushed vertebrae. Further, it turned out that he had been racing for much of the season on a broken femur! Michael flew back to Canada from France immediately. Michael‚s father, Mike (keep them straight), told us today at the bike show that Michae is wearing a brace and is expected to make a full recovery.
