Canada had mixed results in the opening session of the second day at the Track World Championships in Melbourne, Australia.  Monique Sullivan qualified ninth in the women's Sprint - a personal best - however, did not make past the first round of the match sprinting.

In the women's Team Pursuit, where Canada is one of the favourites, the team of Tara Whitten, Jasmin Glaesser and Gillian Carleton qualified third, and will go up against New Zealand for the bronze medal.  A surprisingly strong Australia broke the world record, which was then broken again by Great Britain.  These two teams will ride for the world title.

Zach Bell was fifth in the opening event for the men's Omnium, the Flying Lap.
