June 25/11 15:45 pm - Road Nationals: Men's Road race UPDATES

Posted by Editoress on 06/25/11

It is ~ 10 to the start of the Elite men's road race on the same course that the women raced on yesterday.

The field is 170 riders and includes the Elite and U23 riders and they will complete 14 laps of the 12.9 km circuit for a total of 180 km

start

Defending champion is Will Routley (Team Spidertech powered by C10)

The race organizers lost the start/finish banner, when the driver of a large truck decided, earlier today, that the "no trucks" sign visibly posted on Appleby Line did not pertain to him.  The banner is lying in pieces beside the road at the top of the climb.

It is cool in the high teens, and very humid.  High cloud with some occassional sun poking through, means that the rain may hold off.  There is very little wind, unlike yesterday where the women' battled a head and/or cross wind on 3 sides of the course.
