Lyne Bessette demeure chez SaturnMontréal-(DIAPO)-La cycliste Lyne Bessette a confirmé son retour avec l'équipe Saturn pour la saison 2000. Au cours de la prochaine saison, Bessette et ses coéquipières participeront à environ 75 courses avec comme objectifs principaux les courses du U.S. Pro Tour et les Jeux olympiques de Sydney. L'entente entre la cycliste des Cantons de l'Est et l'équipe professionnelle américaine est d'une durée d'un an.
" Je suis très satisfaite de demeurer avec Saturn, a expliqué Bessette. Pour moi, c'est important de demeurer près des gens que j'aime. Nous participerons sûrement au Tour de l'Aude et à quelques étapes de la Coupe du Monde, mais le reste du temps, nous demeurerons aux états-Unis."
En janvier, l'ex-coureuse de 1500 mètres ira rejoindre ses coéquipières, dont Anna Wilson (Australie), Suzy Pryde (Nouvelle-Zélande), Clara Hughes (Canada) et Dede Demet (États-Unis), en Californie pour reprendre l'entraînement sur route. " Un autre avantage que me fournit l'équipe Saturn est sa volonté de nous voir participer aux Jeux olympiques. Les dirigeants de l'équipe ont l'intention de travailler de concert avec nos fédérations nationales pour voir le plus de "Saturn" possible à Sydney."
Rappelons qu'en 1999, avec son gilet Saturn sur les épaules, Lyne Bessette a remporté la Classique de Redlands, le Tour de Willamette, le Tour de l'Aude, la Classique Fitchburgh-Longsjo, en plus de nombreux autres podiums.
