Pat Ferris won the Roubaix Cup Trophy for a fourth time, Sunday. He won the last race, the Two Rivers Roubaix, in a time of 1:00:54 minutes for the 27 km loop. George Gamble was second, only 24 seconds back. Dean Lowry was third at 1:11:15.
Renee Kalkman won the 15 km event at 37:06 with Jessica Kalkman second at 37:35.
Thank you to Sandy McDonald for timing!
The Two Rivers stage was the last of a very cold 2011 version of the Roubaix Cup. All three races featured cold and snow. Sunday’s started on bare, dry pavement then graduating to packed snow, ice, then mud and water and back to dry pavement at about minus 3. George Gamble had a gap early on the packed snow section. Ferris was able to catch back up and then pull ahead in the muddy road and stay ahead on the bare pavement section for the win.
Renee Kalkman
Pat Ferris won two stages and had 13.5 Roubaix Cup points. George Gamble had 11.5, Gary Hilderman 6.5, Adam Currie 4.5, Dean Lowry 3, Renee Kalkman 2 and Jessica Kalkman 1.
Next Sunday (April 3rd) is a paved road race under (hopefully) warm spring conditions. The route is from Humpty’s to the Beatton Park road, out to Money Store and the Old Montney highway back to Humpty’s for a 60 km distance. There will be a 25 km distance available as well. Start time is 2 pm.
