Cross On the Rock Series organizer, Normon Thibault, has just announced that the Island Championships scheduled for tomorrow have been cancelled, due to a removal of permission by the venue. The reasons cited are concerns over liability. The communique from Normon:
Wendy and I organized all the wicked series prizes from Lambert and Oakley this morning. I JUST picked up the Beautiful KONA Carbon Major Jake frame from Oak Bay Bikes in Nanaimo which was one of our series GRAND Prizes for tomorrow and I received a call from Ian Craib our site co-ordinator for Shawnigan Lake School. They are not willing to let the race go tomorrow. The usual concerns with Risk and Liability. So the event it cancelled.
Unfortunately we can not just delay 1 or 2 weekends as the next two weekends are already booked.
I booted home from the shop to fire this out to you all so that you can plan on going out and having a few more drinks tonight....or what ever.
We are disappointed here and bummed but it was not our call.
Sorry.
Normon
