Another exciting night of racing at the Forest City Velodrome on Halloween Eve. The goblins were out to make another statement that youth racing is alive and well in Ontario. The FCV Velo-Kids and Youth training program is continuing to make improvements every week.

Ten Madison teams contested the Elite and "B" divisions on Saturday night. The "B" group put on a very entertaining race with four teams battling it out over the 100 lap affair, The team of Scott Mathews and John Hueston outlasted the other teams to claim victory.

The Elite division had a howling event, with six teams on the boards for their 150 lap event. The lead changed hands eight times in the first 100 laps, with all the teams in contention for the win. With 50 to go, two teams attacked to separate themselves, and treated the 250 spectators to a wild finish. The Invita-FCV team of Patrick McGinley and Jason King were the first to see an opening and moved into a half lap lead on the eventual winners Ryan Aitcheson and Garnett Abbey. The half lap lead was short lived, when King and McGinley missed an exchange with ten to go, Abbey's last exchange put Aitcheson into the race at least 15 kph faster that the rest of the field, and Aitcheson treated the fans to an unbelievable display of speed as he rocketed over the Blue team and easily took the victory.

In other race action, 16 year old Kris Ovsenek (Invita-FCV) continued his winning ways in the sprint competition. He qualified in a sensational 8.142 seconds around the 138m velodrome, the speed was 61.017 kph ..... this was with a light gear and no disc wheels. In the sprint final, the three-up race saw Chris Singleton and Lorne Falkenstein put Ovsenek to the test, and in a photo finish the young 16 year old won the tournament by .008 seconds, according to the FCV chip timing system.

In November there are two development camps, leading to the FCV's two biggest race weekends of the year. On November 20th, the Cadet and Junior racers will be featured with a 100 lap endurance classic. Elite, Masters, Elite Women and the Youth racers will also be on the race program.

The CanAmQue Challenge on the weekend of November 26th will see Elite racers from Canada and the United States do battle in the Fifth Annual event .... you will not want to miss the action at the FCV.
