The Grand Prix Cycliste ProTour Québec – Montréal announced Thursday the registration of Canadian racer Ryder Hesjedal to the first North-American editions of the cycling ProTour this coming September. A member of the Garmin Transitions team and 12th in the overall standing of the 2010 Tour de France after the 11th stage, he had maintained the fourth position during stages 3 to 6 and had reached the third rank after the 8th stage.
Born in Victoria, British-Columbia, Hesjedal is proud to compete in these ProTour races on his native soil. “These two races are really important to me, and I hope they’ll become ‘classics’ before long,” said Hesjedal. “I rode in a national championship race in Québec City, but I’ve never been on the Montréal course. I know it’s a tough one but I’ll be going all out for the best possible result in both events.”
