After only three years of competing, two Victoria-based road cyclists have been selected to represent Canada in the 2010 UCI Junior World Cycling Championships in Offida, Italy during August 5 - 8th.  Annie Ewart (16 years) and Craig Logan (18 years) were selected after competing in the recent Canadian Junior National Championships in Devon, Alberta. Ewart won two silver medals in the Time Trial and Criterium challenge events, while Logan won silver in the Criterium. Both cyclists are members of the Cycling BC's Provincial Team.

During the spring both athletes were supported by Cycling BC and its sponsors to travel to Europe to compete against the fastest junior road cyclists in the world as preparation for last weekend's national championships. Craig went to the Canadian national team base in Belgium and participated on the Canadian team at UCI Nations Cup races during May.

On learning of his selection Craig said "I'm thrilled to be representing Canada next month in Italy. It makes all of the training and commitment worthwhile, and I really thank those at Cycling BC who have supported me to get to this place."

Logan leaves shortly for more racing in Quebec before departing for the Canadian training camp in Belgium, as preparation for the World Championships. In Belgium he will be joined by Ewart who is one of only four junior women representing Canada. She will compete in Italy in two world championship events, a 15 km time trial and an 80 km road race. "I feel very honoured to be cycling for Canada. This has been a dream for me all year, and I'm so grateful to Richard Wooles and Cycling BC for making this possible." said Ewart.

When he received the news of their selection Richard Wooles, Cycling BC's High Performance Director and National Track Coach, said, "Craig and Annie set a goal earlier this season and have reached it. Their success makes them role models for many of the younger riders joining our teams, and we are proud of their success and representation on the junior national team." Wooles also noted that the success of these athletes and many other Team BC cyclists would not be possible without the direct support of key sponsors.
