This year, more than ever before, the Rundle Mountain Cycling Club is really making the Canmore Nordic Centre the place to be for Mountain Bike Nationals. Starting on Thursday, July 15th, there will be lots to see and do for mountain bike fans, participants, racers and families.
The Families
Make this a real weekend event by bringing the entire family to Canmore. On Friday evening there is a "Share the Road" ride of 20 kilometres that circulates through the town of Canmore. The ride will have a police escort and stay on reasonable roads - road bikes and mountain bikes are welcome.
The Little Ziggy races for kids under the age of 13 will go at mid-day on Saturday, July 17th; sandwiched between the elite women and men races. The little whipper-snappers will get to hit some great new single-track as they experience racing mountain bikes.
On Saturday afternoon Jay Hoots and Rad Bike Service are presenting a clinic and small competition in the bike jumps park at the Canmore Nordic Centre. Registration is free so just show up and have some fun with a pro!
All of the rest of the age group - master and youth - categories will hit the start line on Sunday, July 18th. Sign up now!
The Social Events
Three great parties will be going down at the National Championships this year:
Friday, July 16th - Get PUMPED for Nationals - 7:00 pm - Drinks and BBQ at the Bill Warren Training Centre. Perfect for after your pre-ride or dropping off stuff for the expo.
Saturday, July 17 - Sooo Racey, presented by TransRockies - Drinks and Dancing at Zona’s Lounge in the Town of Canmore.
Sunday, July 18 - It's a Wrap - Drinks and Dancing at Communitea - just in case you have any energy left after a weekend of volunteering and racing ... this is the place to get rid of it!
All weekend long - come to the Nordic Centre to watch the races and enjoy a few cold ones on the patio - money from every beer sold goes to a great cause!
The Other Stuff
LuluLemon Bike Wash
Get your bike washed and make a donation to a great cause on Saturday, July 17th. LuluLemon will be providing a bike wash by donation at the Canmore Nordic Centre. You're welcome to wash your bike multiple times!
Race Clean
