Edmonton Indoor Velodrome Project Moves Forward
Courtesy Alan Schietzsch, President, Alberta Bicycle Association
Three years of planning for a new indoor 250-meter Velodrome (and multi-use center) at the current Argyll Sports Park; 68 Ave. & 88 St. will come to a head on Monday, April 7th.
A FINAL public presentation by the City of Edmonton Community Services Department and the Argyll Velodrome Association to the Community Services Committee of Council is intended to bring a final VOTE of support from the councilors for this project.
PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT for this wonderful project and ATTEND this presentation. Success will change the image of cycling in Edmonton (and Canada!) forever.
MONDAY, APRIL 7, 2008, 9:30AM:
CITY OF EDMONTON Council Chambers
Agenda:
1. Community Services Department presentation.
2. Argyll Velodrome Association presentation.
3. Individual Public Presentations; opposing and supporting the project. <-THIS IS WHERE WE HAVE TO SHOW OUR STUFF!
Any assistance you could give to publicise and generate support for the project is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!
NOTE:
I'd like to let all Canadian (and international) cyclists about the new Edmonton Velodrome project. I have created a facebook group that I'd also like to invite everyone to join - this will help galvanise the community and would help show numbers to our local politicians, as well as demonstrate that the facility would draw folks from far beyond Edmonton or Alberta.
