Gerick Cycle Destroyed by Fire
For the second time in less than a month a bicycle shop has been destroyed by a fire. Last month it was Duke's Cycle in Toronto, yesterday (March 10th) it was Gerick Cycle in Kelowna, B.C.
Gerick Cycle and Jammers Liquor Store at Northgate Plaza in Kelowna suffered extensive damage, including a collapsed roof. Neighbouring businesses in the strip mall, including Jenny Craig and Total Pet, suffered smoke and water damage. There were no injuries.
Fire and police investigators have not determined the precise cause of the blaze, but it appears that wooden pallets outside of the backdoor of Gerick's may have been set on fire. Damage is estimated to be in excess of $1 million.
