Outdoor Gear Canada Moves Into "Green" Head Office
Outdoor Gear Canada (OGC) has moved into its new "green" head office and warehouse at 10555 Henri-Bourassa Blvd W. in Montréal's St-Laurent borough.
"We closed our old offices Friday, October 12th at 4pm and were up and running in the new building Monday morning at 9am," said Jean Cloutier, OGC's Vice President of Operations & Finance, who supervised the new building project for the company.
OGC is now working with its green building consultant, architect and general contractor to complete the application for LEED Canada certification.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Canada was adapted from the US model by the Canada Green Building Council and rates environmentally-friendly buildings according to five principal categories:
sustainable sites,
water efficiency,
energy and atmosphere,
materials and resources,
indoor environmental quality
"We have already satisfied the criteria for silver-level certification and think we will attain gold certification," said Mr Cloutier.
Apart from its environmentally-friendly features, OGC's new facility should substantially improve OGC's operating efficiency, according to Mr Cloutier. ''We have over 103,000 sq ft of space and have been working with Deloitte Consulting's warehouse logistics division for two years to ensure we have the most efficient warehouse operation and equipment possible.''
OGC also doubled the size of its Vancouver warehouse and service centre this past July.
OGC is the exclusive Canadian distributor of the cycling industry's leading brands, including: adidas cyclewear and footwear, Bell, Blackburn, Camelbak, CycleOps, Easton, Fox Racing Shox, Giro, Kryptonite, Mavic, Opus, Ora, Pedro`s, PowerTap, Profile, San Marco, Saris, Speedplay and Vittoria-Geax.
