The National Team Training Centre will be holding an Olympic Training/Information Camp for Olympic Pool mountain bike athletes and invited athletes from November 5 to 9 in Victoria. The camp, based at PacificSport's NTTC, will be supervised and run by National Team Head Coach Houshang Amiri. It is the first of three camps that will be held during the winter and spring of 2008, as a preparation for the Beijing Olympics next August.
The camp will consist of group training rides, indoor activity sessions and an analysis of the conditions the riders will face in Beijing. Amiri recently returned from a mountain bike test event in Beijing, and was able to gather useful information on the terrain, conditions and environment for the riders. Through video footage and photos Amiri and his team will be able to analyze and discuss the results from the test event in order to better prepare themselves for the Olympics.
At the camp the upcoming 2007 - 2008 national team program will be reviewed in detail, and each rider will undergo pre-season testing and evaluation in preparation for the competition ahead.
The camp is part of the overall national MTB program that is building towards Beijing and the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.
