What an outstanding way to kick off the winter season. The Forest City Velodrome introduced 6 new women to track cycling over the weekend. These young women had no track cycling experience and all came away from the 2 day camp looking forward to the next time they can all train together. It's interesting what 8 hours of skills and speed can do for beginners on the track.

The camp started with basic introduction to the FCV and the work continued throughout the weekend. Confidence and riding ability was the goal of the Velodrome introduction. Team building and the ability to work together in during drills on and off the track. We also developed a base line of fitness for each athlete.

With the success of the first camp, we have decided to run another camp for interested Women, between the ages of 16 and 26. We are looking for Women who are athletes (running, hockey, volleyball... etc) cycling experience is OK, but not a prerequisite. New riders are encouraged to come to our expanding Velo-Kids program over the next few weeks for the inital basic instruction. Check out our website at www.ForestCityVelodrome.ca

With the help of the Trillium Foundation and Active 2010 programs, the cost to the participants is "FREE". This includes Professional instruction, track time and Bike rental. The next camp will take place on the weekend of November 3rd and 4th. for more information contact, Program coordinator, Dina .... info@ForestCityVelodrome.ca

The teams are finalized for what promises to be another hard fought race at Forest City. Once again there will be two divisions. With the unfortunate withdrawals of Steen Rose on the U.S. team due to injury and local speedsters Brandon Throop and Steven Meyer due to mid-term exams the 'A' division will be down to five closely matched teams. Brian Crosby of Arden Hills Minnesota, Rose's partner, will be making his first appearance at Forest City and team up with Garnett Abbey of Burlington, a Forest City Six veteran.

The Quebec team of Martin Rooseboom and Phillipe Raymond are sure to add to the excitement and thrills for the spectators.
The 'B' division will again be a five team race with each team consisting of three riders. Up and coming riders are being paired with some of the masters to maximize both experience and safety.

Each division will compete in a scratch race, miss & out and two madison sessions per night.

The race is being held over two three-day weekends - Oct. 19, 20, 21 and Oct 26, 27 and 28th. Start times are 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 1pm on Sundays.
