Burnaby Velodrome Fall Challenge Filling Up Fast!
Schedule Released with Inaugural Madison Cup and Womens-only Racing
As the Burnaby Velodrome Fall Challenge rapidly approaches, registration spots are quickly disappearing! In less than a month on the weekend of November 9-11, 2007, some of the best racers from North America converge under the bubble dome in Burnaby for a weekend of action-packed racing. So dont miss out! All groups have seen significant registration numbers, especially the hotly contested B group which is over 50% full after just one week!
Inaugural Madison Cup
We are pleased to announce the inaugural Madison Cup for both A and B groups to be held on Saturday afternoon. The steep banking and short laps make the Burnaby Velodrome the perfect venue for Madison, both for racers and spectators. It will be broken into four events: two madisons (points and scratch races) followed by two back-to-back races with each teammate racing in only one. From this an overall winner will be crowned for both categories.
New Racer and Womens-only Racing
To keep up with the demand from the highly successful Learn to Ride clinics, we are offering a full complement of races for new riders.
We have partnered up with Canadas Cycling Magazine, Pedal, to present two categories of Womens-only racing in addition to the new racer category. Registration for the womens categories is free with general entry for the weekend.
Match Sprints and Keirin
No track weekend would be complete without these exciting sprint events! Come rub shoulders with international-caliber riders, or come and watch as these anaerobic animals fight it out on the track at speeds upwards of 70 km/h! Also, we have an electric pace bike for the Keirin, custom-designed for the Burnaby Velodrome by Electric Coast Urban Vehicle Co.
**REMINDER: Pre-registration is MANDATORY and can be found at www.karelo.com. If you have any issues you must contact race organizers before the registration deadline of Wednesday, November 7th to reserve a spot. Billeting is available for out-of-town racers**
