Symmetrics Fuelled By FarmPure is taking a five-rider team to Mexico this week for the 7-stage Vuelta a Chihuahua, from October 7-14. After wrapping up the UCI America Tour, Svein Tuft will sit out the Mexican adventure. Originally planning on taking part in the event, Tuft will no longer do so due to fatigue and logistical problems coming back from the Road Worlds.
Christian Meier, Geoff Kabush, Cam Evans, Andrew Pinfold and Will Routley will partake in the race, with Evans already having arrived in "New" Mexico for some pre-race altitude training. Evans flew directly to Kabush's home in Albuquerquefrom Europe.
The race is a big budget affair, with an air transfer for all riders at the midpoint. There are a total of 7 stages in eight days, with several top European and ProTour teams present. Look for squads like RELAX-GAM, Slipstream, Saunier-Duval, and Agritubel to be some of the top opposition for the S-Team.
"I feel pretty excited for this race," The S-Team's National MTB Champ, Geoff Kabush said. "I haven't raced on the road in a while so I think this tour should be a great place to give 'er again. I think that Pinner or Christian are looking good for some strong rides--especially Christian after his break at the U23 Worlds."
