Armstrong Really Is "The Man"
Retired cyclist Lance Armstrong has a new honour: Askmen.com magazine has listed him as one of the top-5 men in their Top 49 Men poll. The magazine received over a million votes on a list of 100 finalists (itself from a list of 15,000+ nominees) for men that are considered "to be the best representatives of the male gender ... every guy on it (the list) possesses some quality, characteristic or virtue that we men prize and strive to cultivate in ourselves..."
Armstrong finished fourth in the overall voting, behind actor George Clooney, hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, billionaire Richard Branson. Fashion designer Tom Ford rounded out the top-5. Tiger Woods was the only other athlete to crack the top-20, in 13th place on a list dominated by actors, musicians and really rich guys. No Canadians made the list (not even Dick Pound).
Casting some doubt on the validity of the voting, Johnny Depp was seventh - while Depp is certainly entertaining, I seriously doubt that he exudes qualities and characteristics that many of the male gender aspire to (but maybe that's just the characters he plays...). Howard Stern was 24th...
