Charles Dionne Leg Operation Critical to Career
by Amanda Leigh Cox
In roughly two or three weeks, Quebecois cyclist Charles Dionne hopes to resume his ProTour career after he undergoes an operation to repair the problem with his left leg that literally crashed his 2006 European pro season.
As reported in Montreal newspaper La Presse, the operation - which will take place in Spain - is critical in Dionne's career, and could be the deciding factor as to whether Saunier Duval - Prodir will renew the Saint-Rédempteur native's contract. According to La Presse, Dionne's agent Érik de Pokomandy was quoted as saying 'I spoke with Mauro Gianetti (Directeur Sportif of Saunier Duval - Prodir) two or three weeks ago, and they are unsure of where the rumours of Charles' being liberated from his contract are steming from. He told me they still believe in Charles; and if the operation and recovery goes as planned, they will keep him."
