Week 11 - October 12, 2006
It was rainy, course was soft and slow, and we even had to dress up in a "cross" fashion this week! (see photos at www.donricker.smugmug.com/gallery/1999808) ; but the good thing, no one was complaining. After all, this is cyclo-cross! The 11th week of the Mike's Bike Shop Charitable Series (2nd cyclo-cross week) was again a fun filled evening.
Alain Goguen took the win last night. The podium was completed by Guy Pellerin and Luc Arseneau. Cameron Thorne and Tino Ruiter completed the top five.
On the general classification, Chris Selkirk (685 points) still holds a small lead over Charles Cormier (635 points). With only two stages left, third place Mike LeBlanc is now mathematically out of contention for the win. The winner of the season will have the prestige to pick a charitable organization towards which the Mike's Bike Shop Cup will make a donation of all money raised throughout the season during the Mountain bike, criterium, track and cyclo-cross events.
The series is run under an handicap format where elite riders are penalized from the start. So equal chance for everyone who wants to pedal for fun and charity! Still to weeks to go! The race starts at 6:30 pm at the National Cycling Centre - Atlantic Canada in Dieppe's St-Anselme Park. Regular mountain bikes are also accepted if you don't have a cyclo-cross bike. Cost to enter is 5$... remember, it goes to a charitable organization.
